Why Master Molds?
Simply put, Master Molds are absolutely the best value on the market that is available for holster makers.
Starting with a 3D Scan, the firearm is carefully reverse engineered and defeatured, with appropriate blocking added for controls, ejection ports, trigger guards etc…
Once the base mold is designed, we draft appropriate areas to help both with mold release from the casting mold, but also with plastic removal post thermoforming, the molds are designed to accommodate MOST suppressor height sights and MOST aftermarket parts to replace safeties, takedown levers etc...
Grooves on the back side of the molds help with airflow during vacuum forming as well as cooling the mold post forming. Once the design phase is mostly done, we oversize the entire CAD model by the shrinkage factor of the casting material. This helps ensure that the molds come out of the silicone as close to the firearm size as we can make them.
These splits were designed by Tony Catner to utilize 2 pins (0.3125” diameter) and a magnet to allow the split mold to be used both as a split mold, and as a whole mold. We also have whole molds available for those who primarily form with foam.
One large bonus to the master series is the ability to mount them using pins to bases for alignment, currently we have IWB bases available, but are working on 50/50 OWB bases and possible others as time goes on.
